I'm the leader of a Bible study group "Women Journeying Through the Bible" I am reading this with 1 & 2 Thessalonian epistles in the Bible and a workbook. I'm the one who wants to know the facts, the culture, the origin of things and then pass them on. I think it is important for us to get out of our 21st century mindset when we are reading Scripture and learn what the world was like for the people who lived then.

As said before, I need to read this in small doses. I just completed chapter 2 and the persecutions in A.D. 54-304. I can't imagine any human being, with blood coursing through their veins, to horrifically torture people. Satan has had his evil influence over people since the beginning. I am in awe of the faith of those who were martyred. As the back of the book says, "Martyrdom is not a thing of the past."

Wonderful book - brings you into the "world" of the person with Alzheimer's - gives real life (and very close to home) examples - shares ways of "creating Joy" in their life - some I have already had the opportunity to use.

Definitely a wake up call!!!
