I’m 2 hours or so in. His dad sucked, so I sort of feel bad for him. On the other hand, he’s been an arrogant little prick since the beginning of time. Some adult should have checked that shit at the door long ago.

Nancy is starting Finding Ultra: Rejecting Middle Age, Becoming One of the World’s Fittest Men, and Discovering Myself
I’m listening and just finished chapter 1, which is the first hour of the audio. Dude’s been vegan for roughly 6 minutes, goes out for his first run in forever and easily runs 24 miles. I call bullshit. That is completely unrealistic for 99.9% if the population.

It’s not inspirational, it’s setting normal people up for injury and possibly hospitalization.

Aregghhhh!!!!! This is making me angry. A longer average life expectancy doesn't mean better quality food, you dolt! More people died in infancy and childhood in 1900 than they do know. It jacks up your average. Once they made it past the childhood bump, things pretty much even out. Arrrrghhhh!!!! You're screwing up the math!!!

It's a little bit of an older book, and I've already ran 2 marathons, but I thought there might be some good advice hiding inside. We'll see

So far, so good. This one is even more violent/darker than Acheron. Yeah, I get the poor, abused tortured hero bit, but Ms. Kenyon has to come up with another character profile. It's getting to be in every book.

I'm just about done with the section on harvesting/working in the fields. I'm pretty sure I'll never eat grapes, garlic, spinach, or peaches again. The way the workers are treated and severely underpaid is crap. Most of our food cost is not from paying the workers. It's all marketing and transport.
