Interesting book but the length is too much for me right now. Putting on pause to try again another time.

Honestly the combination of outlandish description and illogical interactions between the characters is driving me farther and farther from the few things I liked about this book. At this point I’m eye rolling nearly every other page.

It’s throwing me off that the heroine is eating turkey. I get that it’s fantasy and “anything can happen” but turkey is so distinctly American—Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the turkey the national bird because it’s indigenous to North America—that it’s throwing me out of the world completely.

Finally getting interesting!
