Kelly Ruffner is starting Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism
I love the conversational approach to this book. It’s informal and easy to read. It’s interesting to see a firsthand account of people who are not prepared for the all encompassing world of fame - and how they navigate through it, around it and change themselves. It’s a commentary on the author’s perseverance as well, and how different things can turn out if you continue to forge a path vs. giving up.

This book is hard to put down but you almost have to force yourself to do so. It’s honest and sad and funny and relatable. I’m reading it in my head in his voice and hope that he’s in the peace and security he so longed for.

Really great start! I love the story being told from the point of Truth. Best book I’ve read in quite a while-the character of Nico is enchanting-would highly recommend!

Excited to start my first book of 2024! The premise of a woman who can feel the emotions of previous book owners that she collects for her book store-can’t wait to delve in more than 8 pages deep!

I’m not ruling anyone out in this story. The ability of S.E. Green to generate the amount of anticipation and suspense that she does in her books is binge worthy!

I don’t know how anyone could describe this book as ‘boring’. It’s like The Good Som on steroids. I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Incredibly well written, tastefully incorporates the shared relationships with Tom, Marion and Patrick. Reading it and thinking this book/role is perfect for Harry Styles and I hope the movie is just as good!

Kelly Ruffner is starting Young Mungo
Did anyone else have difficulty getting in to the book because of the language dialect? I’m focusing so much on pronouncing things in my head that I feel I’m missing out on a story that has great reviews

Kelly Ruffner is on page 210 of 336 of The School for Good Mothers
I did not know what to expect from the title but the story is a disturbing parallel to novels like 1984 and Animal Farm-even The Handmaid’s Tale. Women who are deemed ‘bad mothers’ for various offenses are sentenced to learning how to be better. They are subject to taking care of dolls who can read their level of love, anger, etc and have to pass ‘tests’ in order to possibly regain
their parental rights.

Very slow moving. We find out who Samuel is and how the 2 main characters each have secrets or information worth keeping to themselves.

Reading from my daughter’s book shelf-what a heavy topic. What would your choice be if you were in a horrific car accident that left you the only survivor in your family? As Mia observes everything in the hospital from an out of body experience she realizes that her fate and future are in her own hands. She is in control of whether she comes back or not.

I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with Shelly. If I was in this story I would put a pillow over her head (reference to passages). She is either purely sadistic evil or so mentally messed up that someone needs to put a stop to her. I feel like I’m mentally yelling at people in the book to take her out of the picture. A true story that is hard to stomach.

I can’t remember the last time I ever underlined sentences or passages in a work of fiction. Already suggested it to 3 people while reading it at the hospital with my daughter in for outpatient surgery. I’m really feeling this story.

After starting and restarting this for the second time, finding the perspective of who is telling the story, a great lead to the mystery (ies) found in Savannah.

I'm not sure I care for the interview narrative of the book. It's like I'm reading a transcript of an Entertainment Tonight or 20/20 episode. The flow is not what I am used to but still giving it a chance because of all the high ratings.

I find myself having a longer than usual time getting through this book. But the conversation with Lou's mom hit home- "I've been reading about all these women-these brave souls who made such a difference in the world to the way people think and do things. And I look at what I've done and wonder whether, well, whether anyone would notice a jot if I wasn't here."

Unusual for me to read this slow but holy snooze fest! I was warned about it, but I am trying to be optimistic. Here's hoping to getting through the rest of it before I have to return to the library tomorrow...
