Such a slow start. Struggling to pick it up and continue. I find other things to do instead of continue with this book.

I am really enjoying the parts that tell the stories of the 2 women on the Lusitania. However, the parts set in 2013 are insufferable. I really want to skip those chapters...

I struggled with America's First Daughter by these authors, and it appears I am going to struggle with this book as well. It is amazing to me that I, a lover of historical fiction, can care so little about the way the 2 protagonists are portrayed in these books.

I didn't care for America's First Daughter by these authors and I am finding this one difficult to get into, as well.

So far, there is a kind of annoying, whiny, neediness between Patsy and Thomas Jefferson.

So far so good...an easy read, engaging story. I was a little concerned about this book after someone compared it to...shudder...sappy Nicholas Sparks.

A new Deanna Raybourn book! I am so happy. Definitely not as heavy reading material as I usually prefer, but she sort of reminds me of Victoria Holt....only updated for modern sensibilities. I love her books!

After the heavier books I had been reading this year, I needed something light and fun. This seems to fit the bill!

Three generations in less than 300 pages?

When I began reading this, I wasn't sure I was going to like the writing style. Each chapter is only a couple of pages long, they alternate between the two main characters, and jump from early in the war to later in the war and back again. But now that I have gotten used to it, the story is coming together quite nicely.

Well, the same character calls Aubrey AUDREY once again. I guess it is intentional since Aubrey is being a real chicken shit.

Loaded was a great story....forgiven for the poor editing. But now, a few pages into Aloft, the 3rd story, they call Aubrey AUDREY twice. How do I get a job as a proofreader/editor?

Twice in the second story, Loaded, Mr. Hill has used "shouldn't of" instead of "shouldn't have." Proofreading and editing is a dying art form.

I was worried that this was going to be some god-awful 50 Shades mommy porn, but so far it has been a fascinating look at the life of a girl in the 18th century who was let down by her father and awoken by tenderness. I can't wait to read its conclusion.

I love Ken Follett...but so far in this book set in 1558 he has used "sexy" and "dreamboat." I really don't think they used those words back then. The story, fortunately, is enough to keep me reading.

Taking a break from the other book I am reading because I got my hands on a copy of this. I loved The Girl in the Castle..looking forward to reading its sequel.

Not sure why this author doesn't use quotation marks for speech....odd.

I love these Julia Grey mysteries!

I found this on one of my client's shelves. Will be reading it while he naps. It will be interesting to see how reading 2 books at once messes with my head!☺

Fascinating read so far. I don't usually care for books that alternate between modern times and the past, but this is one where I am enjoying both stories and how they are intertwined.

Rereading before the movie comes out

Annual reread of what is probably my favorite book. Don't let the cheesy mini-series fool you...this is an amazing book.

I put down the book I was reading in favor of Pharaoh, by my favorite historical fiction writer, Wilbur Smith. I am so excited to be back in Egypt with Taita.

The description of this book reads like an old Victoria Holt novel. It will be interesting to see how the story plays out.
