Glad I chose Joe to help me cross the finish line! 1 book, 2 months, and a kindle full of optimism; frightening levels of optimism...

Connelly does an amazing job constructing scenarios where the White Knight is directly within jeopardy. Yet again, Bosch is running to prove his own innocence while cloaked in corruption. Makes for a gripping read.

This has to be the wackiest police drama I've ever read; and I bloody love it!

The scope of bureaucratic blame shifting and denial which have been documented is quite frightening. I am starting to fear for my own safety when I take a observant view of the political mimicry between this version of The USSR and our current government.

This book feels like it's been written by a high schooler trying to cheat his way to a page requirement; problem is that this high schooler has a literacy equivalent to a sixth grader. Poorly edited and depressing but hypnoticly addictive at the same time.

The tears have finally abated... That death scene really hurt. It's really awkward trying to hide tears while at the gym on a stair climber!

Didn't have a lot of hope for this series, too much like a teenage matrix vibe... But this one has just struck vindication for the series. Not bad; actually, FAR from bad, very good.

I don't usually prefer reading series in rapid succession, but the first book in the series was one of the greatest and best written novels I've ever fallen into. I need this right now!!

The balance between humor and action is perfect. The foot "thing" is an absolute knee slapper! This is the kind of novel which improves lives! I am having a ball in this story!

All I can say is that there is a lot of cheap, raunchy humor but I've already fallen victim to it a couple of times. Definitely a five star laugh so far.

Between four characters, all written in first person; an STD which transposes the memories of others into your dreams; and a multi-tier hierarchical class structure; it's extremely difficult to keep track of anything, ignore trying to get emotionally invested. Oh, almost forgot that one of the characters is also Pan-Sexual; so let's go ahead and redefine pronouns and vernacular for even further confusion.

This is the point at which Carl Mørck becomes a legend for me. It is at this moment that Mørck becomes more than a surly and sad excuse for a detective; he becomes fully realized as a disenfranchised member of the human condition. A man with no more fucks to give.

It is at this very point that a book that kept digging deeper finally buried me in the plot. This is the point when I see no light and I must dig out... I have about half to go. Amazing.

So far this book is a perfect example of the ebbs and flows of life. Simple and small joys intermingled with the most devastating of defeats. The highs don't soar too near the horizon but are enough to make the sudden fall into misery all the more devastating.

So far very difficult due to the sense of immersion which is taking place in form of lots of exposition and context. I feel like I'm reading Madeline but instead of a preteen girl, it's an older affluent russian dandy. Very fun and sunny to this point though which is great because I'm under Covid Quarantine. We'll see how the onion peels away on this one...

Phenomenal read. I have never experienced a book so riveting while at this point the majority of the cast have become repugnant in their acts. I harbour a hate for these people that I think will go unmatched. No one is innocent. This is written so eloquently as to incite all range of emotion but none more so than revulsion.

For someone who relishes in dark humor and who doesn't have a very PC funny bone, I'm surprised at how outlandish this book has become. This isn't racist but Pahlanuik has created a caricature so outlandish that I'd border line call it offensive; but not for being racially insensitive but by being so farcical in the racial segregation that it insults my intelligence as a reader.

Having a rather difficult time believing that Chuck would spend such a lack of effort to properly describe the scale of a complete revolutionary coup. Not to mention that he's partitioned the world into only three demographics, White, Gay, and Black; totally omitting most others up to this point and creating a horribly large plot hole.

So far extremely difficult to follow any line of thought. Almost impossible to see a uniting theme or understand how any of these characters belong within the same book. Palahniuk writes like Stephan King on day 5 of a Crystal Methamphetamine bender.

So far my thoughts on Mayne's initial Installment still stand. In addition, another pattern that I've found is that he relies too heavily on police misconduct and institutional prejudice as a way to create an adversarial environment which the protagonist must work to overcome. I am starting to get a feeling that Mayne isn't a big fan of police due to the negative interpretation which is continually displayed.

So far, very well structured.... My theory, as it stands currently, is that Crabtree and Tuttle were working together to eliminate Pittleman; I'm writing this as a way to validate my early theory if I happen to be right.... The women are going to use the convicts as the fallguys...

I find it physically difficult to continue reading this. The character of Harcourt Bolton is being aggressively shoehorned into the series without much regard for proper character development. Captain Ledger is being made to play as a hero worshipping fanboy in ways which contradict the non-compromising cold-cut cop which Maberry so beautifully created within the first 7 books; this portrayal of Ledger is a crime.

At this point I've come to terms with the flaws within the Wayward Series. My diagnosis of Wayward as Part 1 to The Last Town's Part 2 has been completely reinforced. At this point The Last Town has never left the frenetic pace which Wayward introduced. I am desperate to see Adam Hassler die a death he sorely deserves; I credit Crouch for creating an enthralling and dynamic love triangle.
