Christ and the grail, Arthurian legend, chivalry, enchanting poetry, and (wow) a nod to Edmund Spenser (hint: a famous knight)! I thought we'd never have a modern writer so bold again for modern ears. How beautiful.

Amazing start!

What an intro.

Time for a reread.

Nothing like take three. I truly want to finish this, but I always get sidetracked.

It's worth another reread.

So far, I feel like Beevor has an amazing in-between of Kotkin and Figes. Carries as easily as Figes, without the overlap, with enough detail, like Kotkin, for charachter.

Text would be advised, but not needed. Remindes me so-far of Susan Wise Bauer's scientific history, but in mathematics and finance. Well done, but not moving. Educational, yet not fun.

I'm not yet to the ending, but it doesn't seem that six stars will do this justice. What a use of archetype and symbolism.

Didn't expect the foreshadowing to play-out this early.
