Since, at 20%, nothing much has happened with the MCs (although they've already had sex) and I still feel there is a whole cast of characters I should be familiar with, I did some digging and found out this series is a follow up to The Bookworm’s Guide.

The books in this series are supposed to be stand-alones. I don't consider this the case.

I'll sample the author's elsewhere and see if I'll come back to this one.

Right from the beginning I felt lost: thrown into an ongoing story, without having been presented enough background or context. Several characters, places and relationships were mentioned casually in conversations as if I'm supposed to know them.

I don't know why I'm surprised. Everyone says this book is amazing and Laini's writing flawlessly beautiful.

Regardless, Strange the Dreamer has, and still is, surpassing any expectations. I'm so happy to be consuming this story.
