OMG I’m dying. Tammy made reference to James’ season 2 side plot & just said “I won’t bore you with the details.” Love ya, TP.

I loved Twin Peaks' third and (probably but maybe not) final season. I had a lot of hopes and expectations going in, but somehow I ended up being perfectly fine with the fact that the David Lynch gave me almost nothing I'd been hoping for and so many things I could have never imagined wanting. Still... gotta love Mark Frost for sneaking us just a few concrete answers here and there with his books.

I think Harry might be one of the most annoying characters I've read in a long, long time. Clines' attempt to draw out the ~mysteries~ in this story just wind up creating a frustrating lack of answers from characters who obfuscate things for no purpose. Like most of Clines' books that I've read, I'm enjoying the plot more than the characters so far.

I adore how Greg refers to Lisa as Johnny’s “future wife” whenever the character comes up.

Greg Sestero narrates this & his Tommy impersonation is so on point. Their relationship is super fascinating and the whole story has been really entertaining so far.

God, Eddie's mother is just the worst. Having her for a parent seems about as scary as killer clowns in the sewers.

This is a massive book that feels like it's going to be quite the long journey to get through. With barely any of the book read so far, it also feels like it's going to be a really brutal journey. More than scary, so far, it's been really draining to listen to the horrible things that are said and done to these characters.

This is a series that really does epistolary fiction fantastically. The audio edition I'm listening to is so well crafted. When we're listening to the transcripts of a session of Parliament, there's the hollow, echo-like sound of a recording in a large chamber. The multiple narrators inject each character with personality and give a proper performance.

I had pre-ordered this book because of how much I'd enjoyed "Wishful Drinking". Seems like the perfect time to listen to Carrie Fisher tell a part of her story. :(

This may not be an enjoyable read, but I'm definitely impressed with the world-building that went into it. Somehow I still want to keep listening to it though.

This is the first Neal Stephenson book that hasn't been able to capture my interest yet. Usually by this point I'm all-the-way on board. The length, technical details, world building, and exposition are things I normally don't mind from him, but this book is more of a chore. It has *just* begun to find a direction, so I feel like there might be a hook to latch onto soon. My fingers are definitely crossed for now.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. It feels like this could be a full-length novel, as the concept and universe of the story is really interesting and unique. However, I'm definitely not about to look a gift horse in the mouth when I've got a free audiobook read by Zachary Quinto to enjoy. Plus, a lot has happened so far, so I'm hoping the rest packs as much in as the start has.

I'm loving this conspiracy-laden history of the town of Twin Peaks and the various conspiracies, secret societies, and mythologies that permeate it. It reads like the best alien conspiracy episode that never was of "The X-Files". The choice to style this all as a mysterious file being analyzed by an unnamed FBI agent (aka T.P.) is really effective. The mix of real and fictional characters and events also works well.

I'm enough of a fan of Neal Stephenson's writing that I decided to not even read the description of this book before starting it. Of all the things "zodiac" could be referring to, I hadn't been thinking about the type of boat.

This book manages to be absolutely hilarious in the most unexpected moments. A very Neal-Stephenson-mix of detail, technical minutiae, the absurdities of war, and coincidence. Stephenson always manages to make the most absurd, unlikely, and unbelievable coincidences work. In a lesser writer, I'd probably roll my eyes at every chance meeting but somehow he always manages to sell moments like that.

I always love starting a Neal Stephenson book because I know that: 1 - I'm probably going to enjoy it and 2 - I'm going to be living in whatever world he's created for a good long while. (This particular audiobook is well over 42 hours long.)

I'm really enjoying this book but I'm not sure if that's entirely the author's doing. I like the book so far but I'm pretty sure that a lot of the gravitas and personality of the main character comes from Shohreh Aghdashloo's narration. Much of the plot has been filled with cliche tropes but I'm still finding myself drifting away in the story.

Is there anything better than Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice? She narrates this audiobook and having her voice in my head is pretty fantastic. I'm enjoying the story too.

I can definitely see how this book went on to inspire Orwell's "1984" and other dystopian/utopian-in-certain-characters'-perspectives-only works. I was worried that I'd find it too dry and dated but I'm pleasantly surprised to find it holds up much more than I'd anticipated.

This is a really strange but interesting mix of prison drama and something fantastical/supernatural in nature. I'm enjoying the slow reveal. The journey to wherever we're going in this story manages to really hold my interest. It's something M.R. Carey did well with his last book, "The Girl With All The Gifts."
