They still read very quickly. I’m starting to get very slightly bored.

I hope this picks up, because it’s not zipping along.

Now everyone is bending over backwards to turn Cousin George around.

I’m predicting that Emily will fall out of love with this guy as soon as he’s around for a month.

This is a 450 page book? How big is the font? I simply did not read 300+ pages in 24 hours.

A VERY fast read.

Today I learned that Trollope has an entire category of novels called “Inheritance Novels.” And this is one of them

Old man, son and heir dies, daughter ought to marry a distant cousin to unite the title, the land, and the fortune.

Does this sound familiar? It’s because there are at least two Trollope novels with this plot.

Restart in 2026.

As usual, the subplots carry a lot of weight here.

If Ralph is the hero, he’s pretty awful.

Ok. So I don’t hate Ralph, but I’m also tired of his B.S.

Well, it took 44% for Ralph to make a freaking decision. Now I think the rest of the book should just be about Ontario Moggs.

Ralph is really a sad schmuck. He’s slowly coming to a realization of it. So maybe there’s hope.

I am so tired of the dithering Ralph that the Sir Thomas runs for parliament is at least a diversion.

Poor Ralph has three likely matches: the penniless beauty, the clever daughter of a rich merchant, and the slightly silly daughter of a tired misanthrope lawyer.

I can guess what’s going to happen, because it’s clear to me that Ralph is a jerk.

2026 reread.

The Presger Translators are the best part of this series. By far.
