Screaming about how the caprians keep making very wrong but justified assumptions about what’s going on with Iona

This book mostly holds up but damn I forgot how quickly the nominal romance aspect happens

Continuing with the nostalgia read…I stayed up all night reading this the first time

Feelin nostalgic

Rereading bc the events of this book are happening in the background of Francesca’s and thus I wish to remember what Colin is up to

Julia just some slight edits to the sex scenes would make them feel way less non consensual

My general issue with this run is that it’s very women written by men and Jessica is written with this kind of nasty “not like other girls” streak that I don’t love....

Turns out I’m FAR too depressed to read tana French right now

The pacing of this book is WILD

This book is perfectly fine but so far it isn’t grabbing me

the running “houses and halflings” gag is very good

Whelp gonna give up on this book right away bc it’s way too literary fiction for me

I’m so deeply intensely bored

Okay I got like an hour forty in and it’s very good but it’s making me SO MAD that I need to take a break from it, possibly forever. Def recommend though.

Refreshing to read a version that doesn’t paint Richard the lionheart as the savior

Also I’m extremely concerned about how the gender/sex plotline is going to be resolved

This author clearly has no understanding of the actual consequences of colonialism and imperialism. There is no way to fix the British empire to make it not oppressive and abusive because it fundamentally took away the self-governance of the people they invaded.

Extremely side eye about what’s going on story wise........

Already a little side eyeing the “magically erasing the horrors of colonialism” bit while the empire still, uh, exists
