Just finished the preface by Dr. Watson, and he dated it August 6th. I started reading it today, August 6th. Got a good laugh over the coincidence. :D

Finished "The Boats of the 'Glen Carrig'". Entertaining read. A section of it reminded my of an old film from Hammer Films, "The Lost Continent" I think it's called.

Fascinating read. Who'd have thought a French doctor would murder like the nazis in nazi-occupied Paris. No one knows how the dr murdered all his victims. Recommended.

Finished the Prof. Challenger section, consisting of "The Lost World" and "The Poison Belt". I know of at least one more Prof. Challenger story (can't remember title, something like "The Earth Screamed"), which wasn't included in this omnibus edition.

Starting the Professor George Edward Challenger section of this omnibus edition, starting with my childhood favorite, "The Lost World". The other GEC works are short stories, so I'll read them afterwards. Too bad Doyle didn't do more with Challenger.

Starting "Meccania: The Super-State", by Owen Gregory.

Very interesting read. When the Spanish met the Aztecs for the first time, the Spanish were told that they were their ancient gods returning. Author's theory is that the Hyskos were the inspiration for these gods. They intermarried with the natives and started the Olmec empire.

Finished "The Adventures of Gerard". Great read. It's a shame that all you see in book shops is Sherlock Holmes and "The Lost World".

Finished "Way of the Lawless". Enjoyable read. When I finished it, I saw that I had about 130 or so pages left, with 9 titles. Thought that they were short stories. Nope, novels. Started reading "Ronicky Doone", but this edition (Halcyon Classics series) ended this partway through Chapter 15, and did not include the other 8 works. Grumble grumble grumble

Very fascinating read. Recommended.

Excellent read. A new type of insect is discovered and they act like nanobots. Very enjoyable. The story itself would make an excellent prologue to a novel. (Pleeeeeease!)

Unable to finish Edison's "The Worm Ouroboros". Oy vey! Surprised I lasted to Chapter 10. Must be getting old, couldn't keep the names straight.

Couldn't get into "Trilby". Moving on to the next title. "The Worm Ouroboros" by E.R. Eddison.

Excellent read. The author was one of the prosecutors of the case. He doesn't understand how the jury did not convict the bitch. Neither do I.
