Cannot believe the strong similarities between Edward and Wallis and Harry and Meghan!

Currently on chapter 15. Having difficulty focusing on the time period (1936) when wagons, horses, and other indications of an earlier time flow through the pages.

Just could not finish. I do not believe in ghosts and the story incorporates too many (implied) ghostly incidents without any suggestion or evidence for a reasonable explanation.

Just read “for all intensive purposes” - makes me want to stop reading altogether!

I truly enjoy this long series, but wish I could find some dictionary of people and places that are in the earlier books.

If you come from a small town/country area, this is a common story. I dare say some of us have felt and/or witnessed a small portion of what Demon feels (stranger in a strange land).

Reading again with my sister and nieces for the inaugural book in our book club.

Does the author use these obscure words naturally? I need to use the dictionary every few pages!

This is a re-read, first read earlier this year. Enjoyed so much I went to #1 and started the whole series. Here I am, back with #10, with four more to go.

I’m a bit concerned. I’ve read that Daniel was a eunuch, but this book opens with his wife telling the story. We’ll see…

Reading in ebook form. Just wish there was some sort of signal when moving from one character and conflict to another. Looks like another “next paragraph.”

Yikes...I somehow returned my ebook early and have had to put a hold on Pillars... not reading now, but don’t know how to “pause” on goodreads.

I am surprised that a nonbeliever would write a book as this. The forward was the second place I’d seen Follett’s admission that he didn’t/doesn’t believe.

Love the “insider” references and quotes that avid readers/librarians recognize!

Maybe now is not the time for me to read this book. I cannot connect with the characters.

I've read this before...I recognize the characters and some of the circumstances, but I can't recall the ending or how it gets there.

Way too much in-depth science to make a quick read. Mark Watley sounds so much like Matt Damon that I wondered whether character was written for him. Nope - just a really great casting choice! Online articles said this was first self-published by author, then couple years later was picked up by Crown Publishing. Very sophisticated story - not what I'd think of when hearing self-published.
