Eventhough this book is universally acclaimed, I found it hard slogging, like trying to walk through deep snow. Not sure if it's because of the genre. I don't generally hate sociological (or anthropological) works, and in fact, they usually make up a bulk of the reading I enjoy. Could be I am just not a fan of the form (Japan's Nikki Bungaku don't do much for me either).
