I’ve never read a poetic memoir before. The pieces are in chronological order, telling the story of losing her mom to cancer while dealing with her own loneliness, depression, and heartbreak. I really enjoyed her first book, but this another level.

This book hurts

I can’t figure out how to describe how good she is without sound pretentious.

The chapter on sin and evil was really powerful for me.

I once tried to get into David Sedaris years ago and it didn’t click. Now I’ve heard so many interviews with him, I feel like I finally get it.

Man, he can tell a story.

Holy crap and a half. This is one of the most fun and exciting novels I’ve consumed in a while. It is such a precisely plotted mystery that is engaging from the start. I love this book and I’m praying it sticks the landing.

Holy cow. Her storytelling is wonderful. I don’t know if I can’t describe it. We have an unreliable narrator who doesn’t realize she’s unreliable because she’s clearly in denial of how she really feels. But you can see right through it. And it makes reading on so easy. I don’t want to put it down.

Loved her TED Talk. Enjoying the book so far.

Science isn’t as cool as it thinks it is...

I think...I think I love Dune? The way the story is being told is really interesting and I just got to a GREAT little twist that was very exciting.
