There's so much warmth and humor in Pratchett's writing. The world-building is remarkable. Most of all he reminds us what it means to be human. Even with our short-comings and contradictions, we have value and dignity. I wish he knew the reason for that. Maybe he did, in the end.

So far it's a treasure. Tracks completely with Ms. Mayo's Mother India .

Fascinating. Bribe money is India's currency, then and now.

This is hard. I have to skip over a few parts, esp about child brides. Some of these issues in India have changed over the past 100 years, but sadly much remains the same.

Narayan is the best Indian writer ever. He was born in 1906. As a child he was a voracious reader of English lit, magazines, and fun fiction. He started writing by imitating the style of his favorite authors. Then he found his own style.

Incredible! I had forgotten the joy and spark of good writing.

This is hypocritical New Age gobbledegook. Avoid at all costs.

Such a good book! Whenever I have a spare 5 minutes, I pick it up to read a few more pages!!

Wow, it's as if nothing happens in this book. Just constant talk and worrying and trying to read between the lines. Sounds like my family, ha! That's the whole point, isn't it? To remind us of something in our own life.

Incredible book. Deep truths on prayer, faith, and abiding in Christ. Highly recommend for anybody who wants to go deeper in their relationship with God or who struggles with their prayer life.

Meriwether Lewis is so ready to get home at this point. I can't blame him!! I'm surprised at how much horse and dog they had to eat to survive.

A short photo-history book of Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address. I'm wondering if students in the US memorize anything these days: poems, soliloquys, speeches. Seems like this address would be an excellent one to memorize.

This book is so irritating...

Pretty sure this will take me seven years to finish. It's so nice to read it slowly and really think about it.
