Racing against library due date!

Coincidentally, one of the other books I’m reading also has a married father of two impregnating a teenage girl. In this one, the girl has to raise the baby alone.

It FEELS like I’m close to finishing but I am not! Suspenseful and magical. I love it.

Wait! Drinking coffee and smoking the day you bury your mother makes you a bad person??

The beginning is awesome. Loving it so far!

Narration switches between first and third person. Kind of weird device. Does the TV show do that?

I read this in college and forgot most of the plot.

So far Bagger has proved himself a terrible soldier with disgraceful morals but he cares for orphaned 14-year-old Arno and wants to help the angel they find in the battlefield so I like him.

OK, despite the experimental prose, I’m getting into it!

and it takes some balls to start your book with a lowercase “and,” which will lay the groundwork of pissing off your reader or providing them with something to be pretentious about, hell, why not write the sorry a one long sentence fragment

I’m not sure what to make of Natalie. She seems to be set apart from every group she’s in: Harvard, her local acquaintances, her social media account, her own family. Does she even know what she wants? Does that exist?

I love how the main character manages to find a like-minded alien friend out in space!

I know Ryan Gosling plays the hero in the movie, but the narrative voice in my head is William H. Macy.
