Mike is reading Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, #1)

while I like Butcher's writing in general, I find that what I've read differs little from other fiction of this particular genre.
This book lacks the wit and originality of his Dresden series.
While I remain a fan, I don't think this will be among my favorite of his works.
