poems so beautiful they hurt to speak aloud

reading this in between holiday dinners & gatherings and there's a beautiful irony in having to cram in these gentle, contemplative poems about pausing & paying attention any time i have literally 15 minutes before i need to get in my car again

so jealous of jane kenyon's ability to taste the whole world from her front porch

poetry of the gentle observer--i love how quiet & attentive each of these simple, profound poems are. it makes me sad i can never see the world as she sees but inspired to think there's a poem in everything, especially the mundane

this is my favorite insomniac's manual! honestly all of these poems feel like one poem asking different parts of the same question addressed to God alone

every sentence genuinely feels like a violent punch to the gut i'm obsessed

"A few minutes of you would really be enough to keep me going for years." !!!!! there's an unbearable tenderness to all of this simmering, addictive prose that makes me never want to put down the book while also knowing if I read it all in one go, i could very easily explode
