I listened to this a couple years ago on loan from the library and found myself wishing I could take notes, so here we are with a print copy. It’s interesting interacting with the text in this way - a book whose central thesis is essentially that literacy brought about childhood, and that the proliferation of instant communication is what is causing its disappearance. Enjoying it so far.

Really forcing myself to finish this because it’s an easy read but I don’t like these characters and there is much that comes across as unbelievable, ham fisted, and preachy.

I’m finding myself getting increasingly annoyed by the “mystery” elements - the little scraps that are meant to build suspense or a sense of dread, I guess. Maybe this is how these novels work and this is just not the genre for me. Also not loving the writing.
