I've always been fascinated with the evolution of medicine. When I read the synopsis I knew that this would be a book I would enjoy. The story is set in rural Georgia, 1822. A young doctor comes to town and is in competition with the local folk healers, a trio of young sisters. Half the town calls them witches while the rest secretly visit them. No one likes the doctor whose idea of medicine is landing or cutting.

So far this book is not what I thought it would be. It feels pieced together in some places. I can only liken it to how I used to prepare my notes for debate. We would gather up the material from multiple sources, make Xerox copies, then cut and paste literally (yes, yes, I'm this old school) our arguments. As one reviewer put it, it feels like a book report in need of a copy editor but I will give it more time.

I don't know why I haven't finished this book yet. I eagerly waited on its release and now it has languished in my reading list. Maybe it's because I know it's the last in the series and I don't want to let go yet.

I got halfway through this book and lost interest. That's unusual for me because this is the type of story I usually devour. I may shelve it and try again later.

This is not a book to read in one go. It's a large collection of fairy tales. I plan to read between other book series.

The history of Russia's Tsars have recently caught my interest starting with Catherine the Great. The sad end to a long dynasty of rulers and the !mystery surrounding the execution is what this book is exploring. Will we ever know what happened in that basement room? Did Anastasia escape? It's doubtful but this book, so far, is shining a light on a different perspective of how the Romanovs died.

Reading again this classic tale by Dickens. I just love Oliver, Nancy, the Artful Dodger, and even Fagin!

I'm really trying to like this book but so far the storyline is slow and I'm having trouble staying interested. It has all the potential to be a good historical paranormal mystery. The book explores the rise in fashion of the séance and spiritual mediums of the mid 19th century in Britain. The problem is that the story has been built up but we are going nowhere. I'll keep trying for now.
