Just how ingrained the (1997) movie characters/actors are as I read this book (Audible) for the first time in any format.

Interesting that (for me anyway) I have read Snow Crash perhaps 2 years back. And I liked how Jamie was "rebuked" about his thinking that small pox was extinct. My sister works in a cancer research facility for which she needed the small pox vaccine (and seeing as she was born in 1972 hadn't had one). Seems it isn't just in Atlanta (CDC) as well as Moscow as I had once believed. Researchers have it elsewhere!!!

Yeah. 0.000000...%. Haven't checked reviews. Not even the publisher's preview. Going in cold. Had read to this point perhaps 1-1/2 years ago (minus Drive and Butcher mini-novellas). This time book 08 got me feeling sad. And empathetic to so very many characters. I am 50 and have a better relation to the current crew with regards to "mid-life" and any crises which might arise in daily life. )O(

Occasionally Mr. Hooper will show off some sick and twisted thoughts as occasionally written and described. It's just never nearly enough. Very accidental like. Well, time to finish this book/trilogy.

Travis Baldree kicks ass with his side quest novels. But his characters aren't like Jaxon. Jason and Jaxon do not equate. Anyway, Travis picked good subjects for his side quests. Jaxon is mania exemplified. Extra antipsychotics and benzos and a huge lithium crystal with which to lay. This is insanity!

Wait! This side quest is all about Jaxon?!! OMFG!! My bipolar disorder is sure to be exacerbated drastically by this assault. Won't help my anxiety disorders or social phobia. That is for sure. Hopefully he is secretly started on loads of lithium and thorazine and haldol. They didn't work for me so well. But hopefully Jaxon. Well, this really is an assault on my senses. Think I also will need an increase in ADD meds2

How can I fast forward this fucking soap opera? What a horrible way to end series! FTS

A mission? NOT!! Not a space opera either. It's a damned soap opera. WTF?! If the brunt of this book doesn't change 2 stars is possible. This book is nauseating me! If this series ends with this FN shit, it'll leave me with a bad feeling about the ENTIRE series. FTS!!

Why in the hell is his nurse's name Nancy Kerrigan? Suppose it is better than naming her Tonya Harding. Right?! Hmmm... perhaps Tonya could be working the morgue. And his physical therapist could be Monica Lewinsky I suppose. (BTW, zero disrespect to either Nancy or Monica!!)

STILL fighting ants and learning from Billell's (sp?) journal. It is getting quite tedious. There's a huge freaking dungeon out there in the Abyss and I would like to travel elsewhere eventually. Suppose not as much a teaching experience however. Oh, I still can't help but see Frank as Travis and now somewhat Finn as an older Travis. Wonder which of the other avatars we meet - how and when?

There's just a couple things I've been having to ponder throughout all these books. These students wouldn't have the ""Freshman 20"" after their first year at Hogwarts. It would easily be the Freshman 50 (if measured in kilos) or greater. The gluttony is OBSCENE!!! And the foods they eat would by sophomore year at the latest incur diabetes in the student population as well again morbid obesity plus cholesterol issues

Don't know why this line stands out more than any other. Just a moment in time I suppose. Here is what I'll call a "Dolorisism":

(as Joe is trying to chase down Dolores into brambles after she claimed she hid the money back there

I am rereading this prior to reading Ready Player Two (releases at midnight tonight PST). This isn't one of those dire cases for which I need revamp my memory concerning previous books in a series. But that isn't a reason for not reading it either. Not necessarily. I loved this book my first time around perhaps 3 years ago. Easily "Favorite'd" it. It is under 16 hours. So may as well to ensure total recall.

Actually acquired an audio narration of this online a few years ago since none available through Audible at the least. For now all I can say is I am not overly thrilled with reading this book. Perhaps it was ground-breaking in 1951. Controversial! But all that aside, as a novel being read now it is disappointing me. I AM BORED!!

This one finally truly hit my empathic centers. Notably when Luaun (the 17 year old Chinese girl) is coming to finally and at first scared/terrified but then sees John and knows she at least has some measure of safety for now AND that he came back to save her yet again. There was more that made me all teary. Perhaps that Tey could finally feel something other than virtual hopelessness in the form of REAL hope.

I'm a major night owl first off. I had intended to stop after book 3 but breezed through book 4!! I couldn't stop myself (Audible version btw). And now... freaking NOW!!.... there is a bit under 3 hours remaining and I want to say "screw sleep" and finish this thing. I probably won't be able to sleep anyway. Ugh! This book has sucked me in hardcore!! Amazing!! Gonna try for sleep now. Gotta wait for the ending... grr

Done with Book 1. Hope it moves onto a further plotline at this point. I am not one to mind such word bloating as found in this "extended" edition or in other books so long as such is well written. In this case it is. BUT, well, even for me it was just too damned much. Especially when not relating almost at all the "flu's" progress in the rest of the world outside the U.S. And so I seriously hope for progressing plot

2 more chapters and the epilogue remain. But even for this night owl it is "past my bedtime". Suppose will need finish sometime later. This book is simply entrancing me. I am under its spell.
