The half way point at last. Dear God is this a slog. I certainly know what my genre isn't

This is going to be massive challenge, I was gifted this book, and it's miles outside my normal read. We'll see.

Another glimpse, although different take on one of the myriad ways injustice effects individuals, families, towns. Compelling characters with wholly different life experiences, perspectives and (southern) geography that in no way could match that of a white guy from Vt, makes for absorbing read. I’d like to pursue more like this

4 stars, rounding up. Any book a hard act to follow after reading “Educated”,but despite some tedious sections in the middle with all Marianne’s bad boyfriends, did like the unique main characters, their backgrounds and inner strife
