My big issue right now is the author's portrayal of all men except, Stebbs and Eli, men as a wild pack of hyenas out raping every vagina they come across (even making reference to the idea that female children are violated routinely, not as an exception). Now it seems these men have kidnapped women and set up a brothel of sorts. This is a disappointing plot device and demonizes men in a way I don't care for.

Second book I've read where the mom behaves realistically like an a-hole. As twisted as this sounds, I love it.

Hated this book when I read it as a teenager, maybe I'll like it better this time around.

The last chapter made it ALL WORTH WHILE. It was a fantastic ending.

Sarcastic self-pity from space commanders is not entertaining me.

So far this is tedious to read. I'm barely invested enough to finish. I find it especially annoying that the teenagers are randomly slipping into "slang" mid conversation. The constant comments on race and religion are making me uncomfortable.I can't tell if they are thinly veiled personally commentary or not. We'll see how this goes.

Something just clicked for me and I'm so dealing hooked on this story now.

Self deprecating Bella in the form of a silver centipede. You'd think 1,000 years would buy you a bit more wisdom. The Jacob-I-Mean-Jared and Edward-I-Mean-Ian love triangle is tedious. And here, specifically HERE in the book, the abortion parallel is both heavy handed and overbearing.
