I'm enjoying this book thoroughly! It is amazing to see the incredible emotional strength that Nelson Mandela had as an adult. The idea of loving everyone, even ones enemies, is a prominent idea in this book, and I think that I would never be able to do that. I think that if all of humanity could achieve that, we wouldn't need activists or changemakers. We would change ourselves, and that would be enough.

This is a bit slow, but a very enthralling book, somehow an innocent dystopia, with a thriving and constant theme of unconditional love built in expertly.

Just starting. It's a bit slow, but the contrast between the characters adds a bit of color to the story.

I'm about halfway through! I relish the tantalizing descriptions, and it's exciting the whole way through.

About halfway through. Although I understand the plot of the story, it's a bit slow for me. Also, the voice of the main character, who throughout the book ages considerably, does not seem to change.

I'm planning to finish this over thanksgiving break. So far, it's pretty uneventful... The kid in it doesn't have many experiences that are in any way out of the extraodinary ordinary.

I'm just starting... It seems like a nice writing style. The main character has a distinct personality and I like it so far!

About halfway done. This is the haunting tale of a NYC asylum and the horrible conditions within them. The suspense is daunting and frequent, and the story is eerie but fascinating...

The family Fletcher Takes Rock Island is a light book with little action. It is cunningly written, with lots of style. The only problem I have is that it is hard to distinguish the main character from the bunch.
