First, let me say I'm enjoying this read. But I have to tell you, it takes a little more concentration than the usual formulaic pulp thrillers I've been reading which, in my humble opinion, is a good thing. Pirandello follows Moscarda's descent into madness as he realizes there are many versions of himself depending upon how he is perceived by others. We are humans. Humans are complex. I love this book!

Though much of the information in this book is not necessarily new, Karl does an excellent job laying it all out in a way that exposes just how close we are to losing our democracy. Every American should read this book before heading to the polls for the midterm elections.

It's amazing how close the United States came to losing democracy. We're still not out of the woods. Jonathan Karl does an excellent job of laying out all the facts, familiar and not. Every American should read this before voting in the midterms this year. Donny might not be in office but he still has a death grip on the GOP. It's up to us to change that.

I've forgotten how long this book is. Also, there's some things I missed when I read it the first time, like hoe Rowen and Michael are both pretty damaged people. This would make an interesting series.

I read this series about 20 years ago. I loved it. So I'm revisiting it to see if it holds up. Rest in peace, Ms Rice.

Ugh... Booooorrring!

With the exception of the children, about whom we only get to read at the start of the story, I don't like any of these characters. But I find myself invested in the story so I get to see if and how they die. XD

Good concept. Nice read.

Gonna give this 4 stars for its readability and creepiness. I think, if you're a fan of the movie, this book is worth reading.

Easy read. Some cringe worthy moments. Rynn is written younger than the character played by Jodie Foster. Glad I'm reading it, tho.

The movie, one of my all time favorites, aired on TV a few weeks ago. It inspired me to look for the book. So, here we are.

Like a 21st century Agatha Christie mystery.

This is a delightful mind bender. Loving this tale. Don't want it to end.

This is a page turner for sure.

I caught myself getting defensive. Had to backtrack, detach my own fragile ego, and re-read the chapter from the beginning. The section on Black racism is interesting. Internalized racism is a plague in much the same way internalized homophobia is. This book is definitely going on the "read it again" shelf.

Only a quarter of the way thru this title and can already tell this will wind up in my reference pile. I've been highlighting passages from each chapter like a text book. So much to digest.

I wanted to wait until I was ready to absorb this book objectively. It would be easy to flip thru it defensively, thinking, "well I'm not like that" or "but what about ___". I'm glad I waited.
I'm only 15% into the book but have already been highlighting important passages I want to return to for better understanding.
Kendi's writing is informative and educational without being preachy or accusatory. Good read so far

Good concept. Good characters. Interesting read. Loving it so far.

Trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars. It's a great concept. It has good character development. But it's a little too long and a bit convoluted.

I can't read anymore of this drivel so I'm setting it aside for now. Honestly. It's been three weeks and I'm not even half through. I've never not finished a book before but this is trash. Bolton just rambles on. I might pick it up later but for now, I'm done.

Ugh...

Bolton is as braggadocios at Trump. Neither are good men. Bolton spends a lot of time repeating the same stories to the point where reading the book puts me to sleep. Nearly every criticism of Trump also contains a criticism of Obama. Bolton it not a good man. He's a war hawk. That's not to say I don't agree with some of his policy opinions. It's just that he takes it to an extreme.

OMG, this is the most boring book I have ever read! - and I'm only 10% into it! Jeez... Bolton spends most of his time patting himself on the back. Ugh!

Slow start but the pace increases in the second half.

Not the book to read during a pandemic. LOL! Great read. :)

Mind bending, fantastic, and thoroughly engrossing. I don't want it to end.
