Finally starting this book after having it on my shelf for four years...

In honour of Empire of the Dawn finally releasing I have decided to reread the first two books. This is a great idea because the books are not thick at all and I don't have any other books to read.

This is just How to train your dragon but with a lizard instead of a dragon and more swearwords lol.

Someone please give me strength to go through the last 130 pages because I don't know why I am doing this to myself.
I thought the people in "Sleep like death" who made deals despite knowing that the deals always go wrong were stupid? I hadn't met Ying and the others yet. I am nearly in awe of her ability to make the single worst decision one could possibly make every damn time.

Sorry but I can't get over the fact that she requested a room with no mirrors/reflections and he takes her on an hours long riding trip to a hut. Do you not have one (1) room in the whole palace without mirrors? Or a fucking garden??

Originally I was really excited for this but why is every character just insufferable.
Imani thinks she's better than everyone else, Taha is the predictable asshole love interest and I'm very confused why no one has slapped Amira yet, because she's being annoying af.

I feel like the story only really began at page 200 or so. But by now I am really invested in this.

Tairn is the only one with common sense in this book.

Who invented that the MC has to have a horrible nickname and the MMC exclusively calls her by said horrible nickname. I'd like to have a word.

Apart from that I'm a little bit disappointed, but I think my expectations were just too high. It's not bad, I'm just not too fond of certain aspects.
