Brilliant!

I knew from the title that this would be another gem of a book. Of course it's not been delivered to me yet, but reading a few quotes alone sold me on it: "Standardization develops a kind of mass mind, which in mature years renders men very susceptible to crowd appeal." It is unfortunate that there is little to no information (or PDFs) of it online besides user-submitted WikiQuotes, however.

This book is very unique in that its first edition and last edition are almost entirely different books only with the same title and main idea. Not only do both teach you how to read in the truest sense of the word, it also provides profound advice throughout. Though out of context, this quote from the 1st edition gives good illustration: "I not only thought I had struck gold; I also thought that I owned the mine."

Looks like I've been "reading" this book for over 3 months!

Maybe I should get back to reading it soon.

Interesting use of commas; I may be unacquainted with Scruton's style of writing, but at times I find myself rereading sentences at least once or twice due to the odd structure of sentences.

Brilliantly composed, eye-opening and rational points. I have truly discovered an excellent author.
