A necessary book to read(or in my case listen to) in this current time, somewhat ironic that I'm writing this on my phone.

Clarity and conviction come to mind when reading Mr Haynes!

Alistair Begg does a great job of lightly fine-tuning this classical devotional. The style of Spurgeon's meditations makes for great inspiration and for superficial studying of the text. Although the thought of even critiquing a man of Spurgeon's caliber would be near blasphemous, Charles has the ability to be hit and miss when it comes to engaging with the text and making a point flow more from the verses referenced

Whenever you are brave enough to read John Owen's thesis on Particular Redemption (I favour this more than limited atonement), here are a couple of pointers

1. Have your Bible open
2. Brace yourself for necessarily abrasive critique
3. Every arguement you have against his thesis, he has already prepared for
4. He thinks and writes in Latin and English
