Thought I’d give it a chance as it was free with Kindle unlimited, and definitely pleasantly surprised. I read a LOT of doomsday apocalypse science fiction, and usually there’s a general formula. While this sticks to it, it goes from zero to sixty with action quickly, yet is somehow plausible if you retain the whole “alien” outlook of aliens.

Has anyone heard if there is going to be another Thomas Harris novel? It's usually every 10 years he releases one, and it's been 9 since Hannibal Rising...

I frankly don't know why I'm determined to finish when this has lost my interest, except for sheer stubbornness.
Whereas The Stand or Chuck Hogan/Guillermo Del Toro's The Strain trilogy (although on second thought, the second and third of that one lost its luster as well), heck, even TWD first few seasons could have several plot lines going, this is just dragging and all over the place.

It's dragging. The first book was the same- intense start and storyline and then it veered off. I usually will read a book in one sitting or a couple of hours but this one is not keeping my attention.
