I mean. It’s fine. Mostly enjoyable. Definitely obvious with the pop culture influences. But I question some of the author’s quite a bit. A bit jumbled with all the ideas. Corny (Alice Lovelace as a character name) but it’s YA so that’s expected. But like why tho? Re Alice:Cordelia? What does that have to do with Evie??? lol.

Yeah kind of ho hum so far. The naivety of Merrin (sp? I’m in the audio and haven’t really looked at the description to avoid spoilers) seems about average but it is a bizarre set of circumstances that she’s in.

This almost feels like parody with the level of Try Hard in the writing.

It’s giving The Crucible, The Virgin Suicides, with a dash of Angela Carter. Not all men but always a man energy.

This is a hoot. I did expect more gore. The pop culture references are a delight. Author is a Redditor for sure. Whomp whomp that the audio narrator for Rowan is apparently trashy in real life, but honestly not shocked. Not all men but obviously some of them. Boo. Almost finished within the day of starting this. Need to finish my other Just Started before getting the next one.

Very pleased so far. Less meandering narration than other works but on par with his general use of more poetic language. Audiobook has a great cast. Beaucarne is naive and sounds exactly like I’d expect a minister of the era to sound when discussing matters related to taming the Savages. Our antihero, the Fullblood, has greater metaphors that are being worked out and is incredibly interesting.
