The theme for the Dark Lord: The Early Years, is you may think you are something else then you actually are, and may try to be different for people to like you. Dirk acts as if he is some dark lord as he would say, but in reality he is just some teenage boy with a bad case of amnesia. Once he finds this out he still acts as a dark lord so people are still his friend, this is the reason he made friends.

I have just started this book, but at the time a so called dark lord from the past has fallen to earth and has taken the body of a young boy. This dark lord's main conflict is being a human and having to go to school, also coping with the fact that he is with the species he hates and not having his power so he is not able to conquer them, as he has implied wanting to do to these "puny" Humans.

One of the challenges my character is meeting is being honest with him self and with others as he made a promise with these kids who were out hunting to butcher the meat they shot, but the other people he was with were telling him to keep it for himself, The main character was very conflicted on whether to keep his promise and be honest with himself and others.
