This book isn't bad, but goddamn is it slow. I read it for five solid hours on an airplane, got bored with it and looked to see how much further it was to the end. I was at 13%. Thirteen goddamned percent after five solid hours. There's no way I'm going to finish this before the 14 day library loan expires.

Library loan is expiring and I haven't finished. Just can't get into it. It's farce, which I often find tedious, and a very dark farce. I already know what Heller's trying to tell me - military bureaucracy can be cruelly nonsensical, and war is hell.

The narrator of this book is such an insufferable entitled asshole. I realize that this character is the linchpin of Golding's indictment of the British class system, but it makes the book difficult to enjoy. I'm only halfway through and I really really hope he gets a comeuppance before the end.

Obviously written for the semi-literate self-important business douchebag. So far, the entire message of this book seems to be "don't be an asshole." Ok, fine. Some people surely need that message. The puerile "business fable" literary device is tooth-gnashingly awful.

Ugh. This book is killing me. I am so over the entire genre of "naive young woman is seduced/raped and then suffers for it the rest of her life." This is turning into another Tess of the d'Urbervilles, which I absolutely loathed.

Found the damn book again, so it goes back on the currently-reading list. Having a hard time getting through it because gott damm are these characters rascist. And the plot is pretty slow so far.

Taking off the currently reading list because I've lost the damn book! My house elves either really love or really hate Philip K Dick, because this is the second time this book has gone missing.
