The first story in the collection was very well done. One of those rare stories were the characters are animals with no explanation needed. They simply meld into the fantasy world the author created. I wish more furry stories could draw me in like this.

The one good thing about reading really slow, is it lets you know which stories really stick with you and which ones you'll barely remember when you finally come back. Have to say, Cold Scent stood out.

I think it was a mistake to have some of these stories forced into novella lengths. It didn't work for some. They feel stretched and bloated, and the collection suffers because of it.

This book is beginning to lose momentum after a strong start. When I begin to question the stories and dissect them because the plot devices or characters or the universe doesn't make sense, it's tough to keep going. There had better be something to hold my attention or I start to skip over stories.

As usual, Renee's poetic narrative does not disappoint.

Though well written, was somewhat disappointed with Chosen People. Huntress looks very promising.

I'm sorry, but if I talked to a woman that way, I would never, ever, ever get laid. Ever.

That last story was very odd, even a bit confusing, but in a good way. At least the author took a risk and tried something very, very different. It stood out. Not enough writers take big risks.

I hope I am not the only one that feels disappointed when a furry stereotype is used again and again. Also, kudos to Huskyteer for providing the very rare and much needed (if ever so brief) pig cameo.

Started out strong but admittedly, it's kinda fizzled. Heading for the Treats section.

I'll admit that if a story doesn't make sense or doesn't keep my attention, I don't have a problem skipping it and moving on to the next one. The same goes for entire books.

Pleasantly surprised with this only two stories in. Lots more to go, but a good start.
