Reading this almost 10 years after the release, I was surprised by many things in the book. First was how unlikable one of the MC was. Then a sexist dialogue, a slut-shaming remark, the almost sexual harassment behavior by one of the female partner (although I could give a pass on this one considering how close they were). The super unprofessional behavior by the unlikable MC. I am not sure if I can power through.

Alright... The book open with a corpse encounter... And then there was an anecdote about they need a priest to get rid of zombie crawfish. I am not sure how to adjust my mood for this book!

I really think that the death was unnecessary... If that didn't happen there would be more room to have him being him...

A bold gambit, it works! Damn!

Well this is the twist I didn't see coming... I can't wait to see how it will panned out.

I wonder if this is the scene salvaged from Nick's death scene that Abi's scraped.

Hehehe.

I am always Team Zane, and with this scene I am forever Team Zane.

And of course, Chester got to have his fun too.

OF course Mara knew how to fire. A good shot too.

Perfect way to end this scene.

Finally got to see Ty and Zane sparring with knives. Never thought I would see this but my golly Abi really made my day.

Abi really got it right for Ty and Nick's reconciliation scene.

This is like a movie screenplay... A light moment to break the tension... Really...

Players assembled and they are heavy hitters. Ty and one side and Zane on the other. Now it's two points attacks on the cartel.

More pennies dropped. I am not sure I bought that yet, as Zane said it was a risky move, but the yarn had been spun for too long even before Cut & Run start. So I keep reading for now.

It Was a partial ruse. The revelation was a surprise though... Since it was a repeat from A&D... I wonder if it was for real or another red herring...

I think it was a ruse but we will see. Abi still manage to get the funnies in even with what happened.

The wedding was... somewhat fitting with the situations I supposed... I hope there will be a ceremony or celebration with family afterward...

So... part of the plot was explained but I am not sure if I bought that completely... Liam was the master of lies... Just like Ty was.

That's probably the top three hottest sex scenes in the series.

Seriously! First chapter of this book is a weep-fest... Be warned people.

Damn it! Five pages in! Just Five pages in and Ms. Lane had me in tears, in public place! Because I couldn't wait to read it in at home and I need dinner.

At page 23, KJ Charles had me enchanted in the way that happen rarely. I don't know if I could read a book this intense if it was a full length novel.

So far the writing had been elegant and quite... formal? Stylish?

Regardless, it fitted the era. The story start with a bang a rarely let up.

This is a high quality writing for sure.

Kinda like Sui Lynn effect, the story felt longer than the pages suggested.

I felt that the plot was kinda slow progress but then I was only on page 56... It felt much longer than it was.

Really like the prologue, it was well done, respectful of the original myth, and overall sense of decencies and understandings.

It was really well written.

I am not sure I buy Duncan's change of heart. Sure near got killed would made anyone think about their priorities in life but coming from him I am not so sure...
