This book is already a 5. Was, in fact, a 5 by Chapter 3, irrespective of anything that might happen in the next 23 hours and 44 minutes. Finished Chapter 11 coming into the studio today, returned it to the library, and bought my forever copy, which I will pick up in Chapter 12, without a return deadline. Quirky in all the good ways, and an abundance of trigger seeds of follow-that-thought!.

Yeah, this is slightly more an unflinching portrait of misogyny and racism in a speculative world terrifyingly close to our own. than I can manage this moment of living the past four days post inauguration.

Returning, moving to Holding Pattern shelf, and will borrow it again in a year (if I'm not living it).

Off to find a well-written DC-someone mystery to get back to a saner world.

Okay. So I will confess, that some words or six got Hard, and my heart hurt a bit, and so I ran off and listened to Entertainment after 12%.

The library wants it back in 36 hours, so I am going to go lie down in the dark, close my eyes, and let the hard things in.

I started this one evening about two weeks ago, and was not in the correct frame of mind to continue. I'll get back in and give it another listen from the beginning any minute now...

I'm setting this one aside for a bit until my attention span improves.

-8 points on production values... I understand our tonalities change in different reading sessions (although we would hope to have breaks fall at chapters), however in less than ten minutes, there were half a dozen clunky edits, where a sentence or two were cut in after the original read. Intrusive and awkward.
