Finally continued reading this absolute gem!!! It’s one of those books that you can just pick up again and still feel it sucking you back in so fast. I’m almost there but I don’t want it to end yet!

Nothing much really happens but so much is revealed about labor + capitalist systems. It’s also really easy to read and gripping as if I’m also involved in the work each employee is busy with. I guess this just also has to do with the fact that I have so many thoughts around work HAHAHA I really love this already

Listening to the audiobook only when I’m sick and bedridden AND recovering the day after needs to be studied.

I too would have loved to decode a labyrinthine library minus a murderer on the prowl

I think the appeal of this book greatly relies on the taboo topics it has in conjunction with the supposedly pure life of monks. 3 deaths had already transpired and 4 more to go hahaha this is surprisingly enjoyable to read.

The way these monks fear a women's flesh makes me laugh

Listening to the audiobook feels like a priest is sharing church gossip or sometimes a sermon. Either way works for me because I find myself fascinated with their tangents on theology besides the actual mystery.

Now it makes perfect sense to me where a lot of honkaku and shin honkaku writers got their love for the house murder genre.

Super interested to read how the two stories mesh together. The Magpie Murders actually reminds me of Murder at The Vicarage, Mrs. McGinty's Dead, and The Moving Finger hahaha it's really cute and also compelling to read

Just picked this audiobook randomly and while I know some advice might be pretty dated already, this is honestly refreshing and hilarious. Might watch the movie after finishing this.
