I know that I've absolutely owned more than one Steve Berry book in my life but I can't for the life of me remember which ones they were. But I do remember that I enjoyed them so I'm excited about this reading.

It's not very often that I've found a male narrator that I enjoy listening to...but Robert Bathurst is doing an impeccable job of bringing Louise Penny's words to life, and also lulling me slowly into sleep (which is a very good thing - I like soothing voices).

I adore Hester. In every single way. I want to adopt her. And I want to adopt Wilde. And maybe get him to teach me some things about the wilderness....😜

To be honest, I was a lot further along and had absolutely no idea what the hell was going on but figured it was alright because sometimes being lost is the perfect way to enjoy a book. But then I got to about 15% and what happens there confused me in a way that made it impossible to absorb anything that was going on. So I went back to the beginning.

We've just finished Part 1 (Stay Silent), and I am HOOKED. Annait is a MASTER of the edge of your seat build up of anticipation, and I have no idea what's coming. In fact,we have little mini bets on each of our theories and we're picking apart every little detail trying to guess what everyone is up to, analysing parts to figure out of its foreshadowing or subtext and its wonderful. I can't wait for the next reading.

I am absolutely loving this so far. We're doing a group read of this in my Discord server, so we're reading a lot slower than I normally would but the best part of the group read is the discussions we have about where we think things might be going and what we think of what's been read so far.

Oh. My. Soul!! This is so beautifully written I'd enjoy this just for that. And the foreshadowing? Or the build up of suspense, whatever the Sam hell you want to call it. My heart is in a constant state of half frozen in anticipated fear because I know SOMETHING is coming, but with all the twists so far... Who the hell knows what it is!?

Taking a break so I can catch my breath 😂

My last A.J. Quinn audiobook. Let's hope this one improves on the last few rather than being more of the same.

Well after quite a bit of searching I've found the next book I'll be reading for my New Release SFF Reading Challenge and it is Don't Call the Wolf by Aleksandra Ross. It was released in April this year so I don't think I could get more New Release than that!! Now I just have to find a library that has it, or a friend willing to loan it to me because I definitely can't afford to buy it right now.

So I have for various reasons been finding it very difficult to actually sit down and read a physical book, so I decided to save up and get the audiobook of this instead.

And holy wow am I happy about that! Bahni Turpin is an absolutely amazing narrator and has given the whole story a flair and flavour that I never would have discovered if I hadn't been listening to her reading this.

So worth it!!!!

And now I'm back to my A-Z reading challenge. This is, if you hadn't been able to figure it out, book 3 (C) and the one that I have most been looking forward to out of all the titles I've been checking out and considering for the list.

If you haven't read Children of Blood and Bone yet - then do it. I don't care if you're a million and seventy-three years old. It's worth it.

So this book is not part of my A-Z reading challenge, but to get to the next one that IS - I have to read this one (I know -my life is terribly difficult!!!).

And the fact that I may have possibly been looking for any excuse to buy this book instead of reading any of the many, equally brilliant (apparently) books I already own is completely irrelevant.

Book 2 of my A-Z SFF New Releases Book challenge.

There are slightly newer releases, but they were 3 and 6 in a series and I don't have that much free time right now to get caught up.

Also, there is apparently a controversy surrounding this one which intrigues me more than a little bit!!

Holy... I don't even know what. It's amazing so far and my mind is near exploding with some of the ideas and thoughts and theories this book is throwing at me.

And also - I have NEVER seen an author use the "otherwise" (my term for LGBTQAI+) as casually and as well as EB has done and I'm so freaking excited it's ridiculous.

TL;DR: I am fangirling for an author for the first time in my life ever and I'm stoked!!

Finding a book that starts with "A" was harder than it should have been!!!

You ever take a really long hiatus from reading for reasons and have to ease back into it with silly fluffy romances?

(is not describing herself at all in any way shape or form even though it sounds suspiciously exactly like her)

Finally!! Calibre chose a book I know has depth and action and will engage my brain.

I read my way through most of the Dirk Pitt series last year but didn't finish it because I was missing whichever number I reached. And then life, other books, blahblah and I never went back. Now I'm trying again.

This time I have the audibooks as well so I'll be listening to those mostly. And you know - doing the review thing lol.

Ah god. I just finished writing a short story and I am exhausted. My character has torn my heart from my chest and left me bleeding on the pages. And yet I feel so much lighter. Like the story needed to come out because it had been weighing on me.

This is my first completely creative fiction piece in years and I'm wondering. Does it always feel like this??? Because right now I'm terrified to do it again!

Loving the narrator so far, she's one of the best I've listened to actually.

And I'm craving oysters. Juicy, delicious and raw with black pepper, rock salt and some lemon. Plus a dash of Tabasco. Hmemmmemmm-yumm!!

Had a power outage yesterday so decided to read one of the books out of a box I got for a steal at a boot sale some time ago.

It's incredibly old, but I loved the short visit to South Africa. Especially as I wasn't expecting it at all!

When a reviewer whose reviews you respect and enjoy reading likes one of your reviews?

Cue the dramatic fainting and the stupid smile of utter pride!

If I were a dog I'd have wagged my tail right off and felt like a very "Good Gyuuurl!!!"

Now I'm going to read some more and smile inside the whole time. Whatever book it is will probably benefit from my good mood but I hear it's great so that shouldn't matter!

Jesus fucq!! Can I not win??
Just wanted a quick read ] seeing as the last two books I attempted were a complete waste.

But as Melina says to Luc: "I thought you were my kidnapper, not my rapist"

Once again the alpha male uses sexual assault to subdue and "seduce" the damsel in distress.

And I am so fucqen pissed off I could spit!! If I didn't know any better I'd say a man wrote this - NOT a woman.
