One can't help but make comparisons to Canticle for Leibowitz. A massive, hernia inducing tome. A wonderful, and thoroughly crafted world. A somewhat strange, yet still intriguing plot seemingly placed atop it nicely.

It looks like this is one of those "love or hate" books. While I didn't like any of the characters on a personal level, I found it "disturbing those around me in public" hilarious.

Only a few chapters in. I'm barely past the exposition, but it is an enjoyable story so far.

So many literary and scientific references. Gonna spend just as much time looking stuff up as reading if this keeps up.
