Love it when a book has typos lol, there’s been at least 3. The last was “Tripple”. This reads easy enough. I’m halfway through and expected more from the book lounge’s book of the year. This feels like it could be good but it’s a surface-level analysis of South Africa, especially when you hit the cape town chapter. Doesn’t feel like it was written for locals idk

This book is South African in a way I don’t think I like.

Sometimes you’ll get to a certain part of a book and you see why it’s won the biggest prizes in literature or considered a classic. The one time I can think of is reading 100 years of solitude. And now, Shuggie Bain. But, this is heart wrenching because I think it could only come from personal experience. Idk why I’m crying (on the inside) in Yours Truly right now. The music is terrible.
