I have finished part 1 and we’ve been introduced to the world where the general population have to give their will or essence of some sorts through the politically powerful, which created a class system. When they give their will, it drains their life. The politicians who use Will get almost magical powers.
Our main character who has a hidden background, labeled Prince who is playing a dangerous game?

Yee has done a fantastic job of bringing me back into the avatar world. All of the references to the different cities, albeit historical for the story of Aang, are there and I feel like I’m back at home in this world.
The way historical people lived even in this world is pretty rough and I feel bad for Kyoshi. Still wondering about her parents reasoning for leaving her behind but having the troupe.

Wrapped up the introduction to this book. Characters have been introduced, multiple problems have been set (along with deceptions to come), and the world has been build! Now to see if the dwarf skin melts off in the sun like a vampire.

I love the familiarity we have with these characters by now! Glad there is progress with the fabrials and the Sibling. The goodbyes were 😩 were they needed???

Oh we get to visit Shadesmar

I’m seeing so many influences in this series! Mechanical from Robotech or Gundam. A Star Wars feel with the ‘aliens’ that are different from all planets. The X-Men when the Phoenix comes. The robot AI that could take control of the ship like in 2001 movie.

Aw Entreri has a heart! Could he do a kind thing?

I’m really loving how the characters from The Way of Kings are all coming together now!
Also, I like the song excerpts were seeing this go around! And journal entries.

It’s funny how I didn’t like the start of this book because of where the story picked up but with the new element of the underworld, I am totally invested and I need to see what happens next.
