I admit I'm not very far into this book yet, but I am absolutely loving it. The author narrating the audiobook is /chefs kiss.

Listening to him talk about Cohokia has me chuckling, especially the copy cat Brits with their tea lol. When we lived in that area of Illinois, I visited Cohokia Mounds on a regular basis and will forever keep my membership. If you're ever in the St Louis area, please visit!!

Okay, she's still annoying, but not enough to make me dnf the book lol. It definitely won't be my favorite of Center's books, but I'm happy to report it's at least doable, and funny.

I really hope things change because I love Center's books, but I am really disliking the fmc, JoJo, a LOT. Haven't had enough time with the mmc to have any thoughts or feelings on him yet. But man, if things don't change, I don't know if I can finish this one lol.

While I'm enjoying parts of the book, I just can't get over how judgemental he is. It's obnoxious.

So slow. I feel like I'm enjoying it, for the most part, yet at the same time it's like...geez, I'm only at 55?

This narrator isn't cutting it for me. I'll try later, after this move, with the physical copy

Listening to the audiobook and narration is pretty good, especially with having to do so many accents.

Surprised I haven't heard the word ' Lekker ', especially with all food scenes.

Absolutely freaking hilarious! These characters are witty and relatable lol. This might end up being my favorite of his.

Such a pet peave when authors use the phrase, "couldn't care less" incorrectly, as "could care less" lol

I'm only on page 37, but the repetitiveness is making me want to throw the book across the room. We get it. She's sorry, regretful, and doesn't wanna live a good life because of "it." I don't want to read to that same point being made 20 different ways . Maybe it wouldn't be so annoying if I knew what "it" was 🤷‍♀️

Enjoying this book way more than I thought I would

After speeding it up, I've been enjoying the story more since I'm not so focused on the choppy feel of the writing.

I don't know if it's because I'm listening to the audiobook, or if it's the book itself, but it's soooo slow and the prose feels choppy. If I had the ability to sit and read a physical copy I'd switch over.

Trying not to dnf, but I'm just not interested or connected enough to push through much longer.

Incredible writing. Dives right in with no backstory. If squeamish when it comes to anything in regards to hunting, skinning, field dressing, etc...you'll want to skip some parts like I did lol.

Atmospheric. Well developed characters that I'm totally invested in.

I'm so frustrated that I don't have more time to sit down and read, and that I'm not a fast reader, because this book is so freaking good!

Riley Sager is very hit or miss for me. I was about to post an update saying this might be my favorite, until I looked to see much was left lol. The first half of the book has been slow and a bit repetitive. I thought it was about to hit a banger of a final 20ish %. Nope, I'm only half way through 🤣

Hopefully the second half has better pacing for my taste.
