I am amazed at this novel. It is not ony meticulously researched historically but it has a suspenseful story thread running all through the book that keeps you turning pages nonstop.

Can't put it down. So emotionally stirring and chock full of American mid 19th century history, especially the Civil War and its effect upon all the characters.
