Really good book, I enjoyed it. I have issues with the Scythe system, though it will likely come up in the sequels. Rules are selectively enforced, and are regulating the wrong things. Mass murder sprees are a-okay, but the pain of seven deaths upon you if you date your co-worker. I don't understand how they've been keeping this going for two hundred years without falling into tyranny sooner...

I've been using goodreads for a long time, but I haven't reviewed many books beyond a star rating. If I liked a book, I couldn't think of much to say beyond, 'I liked this part', or 'I liked when this happened'. Just not much constructive feedback 😅
And if I didn't like a book, I was done with it and didn't want to dwell on it any more.

The mystery is only a mystery because nobody will tell Bri anything. Her deceased aunt left a series of clues, but no real explanations. The townsfolk drop little pieces of information but refuse to elaborate further. It's getting ridiculous!

My kindle says I have 20% left so I'm going to power through the rest of this. But I am so disappointed. After such slow pacing, characters completely unable to just talk to each other and tell each other what's going on, and now magic sex (with dubious content because the magic is influencing them, kinda?) that causes time travel! Oh, and getting out of a witchcraft accusation with disney-channel style shenanigans.

I apparently never added the Harry Potter series to my 'read' list. Whoops...

I really shouldn't have looked at the description for the next book. Now I'm just sitting here pessimistically waiting for Delilah's escape plan to fail miserably.

While I love the absurdity and the surrealness of the Night Vale world, it gets a little exhausting to read for long periods of time. I'm going to put this on hold for awhile, to "cleanse my palette", before picking this up again.

Although the basic concept of the world building is very different, this book has a similar feel to the animated film "Patema Inverted".

I have the feeling I've read this book before, or I read something very similar when I was in my tween years. I'm getting such a strong sense of déjà vu from the story.

Is GoodReads glitching out for anybody else? Every single book shows up with 0 ratings.
