Ah. So many feelings. The writing was whimsical and real at the same time. This was one of those books that really made you feel the weight the characters carry in really subtle ways. Beautifully written and so glad to have experienced it.

I will start by saying that ANY author who can talk about derby car racing for 50 pages and keep my attention is doing something right :) I learned so much history in a cool narrative journalism fashion, that I am pleasantly surprised by this book. That being said, there were also parts I struggled through. Overall though, what a writer. This was my third book by him, and I'm liking him more with each one.

This book took off the ground running! Liking it a lot so far.

Well! I don't mind tooting my own horn a little and expressing this is the longest, most "mainstream" book I've read to date in French :) I enjoyed reading this story in French because it helped me really brush up and get deeper into the colloquialisms of the language. Review soon!
