Last update on this book for a while as i have lost it. The book i am reading because i lost my headphones is also lost. Was bloody enjoying it too 😔

Another train read. Losing my headphones could be the best thing thats ever happened to my vocabulary! I have only just realised this is a collection of short stories and thank god i did cause i was real anxious waiting for the gorgonids to show up

I’ve started yet another book. This one is because it was the only one that would fit in my side bag and it was a train read because i’ve lost my headphones. Never really been a sci-fi girly unless it had an angsty love triangle so excited to broaden my reading horizons 🥳

Had to stop mid chapter because i was on the train. Quite a shambles really because i was nearest to the button and someone else had to press it because i was reading. Anyways Chechelia is STRESSED and for good reason babe you’re fucked

Painful to read but its okay because I read this while eating a katsu curry from the Open Market. Serious cuck behaviour from Emily Tallis in the previous chapter, part 2 of Briony being the ultimate cockblock but she could have come a bit sooner this time because I’m not sure how much cock was blocked. Overall not enjoying this part of the book can’t lie

Some good old fashioned edging- getting caught doing it by your nosey playwright little sister in the library of your house. Did not enjoy the use of the word “membrane”. Also didn’t enjoy the boys getting blamed for Lola’s chinese burn that Mr Marshall definitely caused.

Chechelia slayyingg in the green dress, one of the only moments so far that I’m glad I watched the film because I can envision Kiera Knightly in the green dress and it is *chefs kiss* worthy. Also Briony you’re a nosy little RAT!!! Mind ya Own! Someone needs to tell her Nunya 🙄

I would have shit my pants then left the country if I was Robbie. Actually mortifying. Also he defo had a boner in that bathtub. Also everytime I read Cecilia I imagine Schmidt from New Girl saying “Chechelia” and it does ruin the distinguished vibe of the book a bit.

Emily is so nosey I hope she clocks that Mr Marshall is noncing about. To be fair I’d be nosey if all I could do all day is drink lukewarm water and listen to the noises of the house. Kind of wish I hadn’t seen the film so the Marshall + Lola hinting wasnt so obvious to me, but such is life.

Mr Paul Marshall is in heat. It’s written so subtly you kind of don’t even see how creepy it is. “Almost a young woman” - key word ‘almost’ you perv! I also love Cecilia and Leon’s little looks they have, a very sibling thing, excited for Robbie to come to dinner.

Not enjoying the freckle slander from Briony- the foreshadowing is so obvious as I saw the film but can’t wait to imagine James Mcavoy as Robbie. Sensing abit of resentment towards Cecilia and I wonder if that’s explained but it could just be sibling rivalry I guess.

A seagull shat on this book during the bank robbery. Think that might be a sign that it wont go unnamed narrators way. I have a feeling Suzy and Someone are gonna scarper with the money, which does make me feel a bit for him as he has fallen in love with her, even though I was kind of hoping for it a couple chapters ago.

The game of leaving earth is definitely one I’ll be playing. I’m going to write down the rules of it in my notes. “The big secret of the western world, that is hidden by all the fantasies of Making It, is that loneliness is hell.” Suzy’s final essence, what she would think of when she dies was “driving with the wind in my hair”, which I think is lovely.

“Life is a precarious little thing, a bright dragonfly hovering permanently between unbearable clarity and smacked out deathwishes”. Really loving this chapter. Rather cute when he went to Suzy for comfort, “the moment I saw her face I didn’t give a damn what she thought of me so long as she was thinking about me.” Also Chicho’s letter ❤️❤️ if he doesnt get that restaurant I’ll be fuming

Had to take a break halfway through the chapter to say that so far, Chapter 12 the “Miracle of Prozac” is my favourite yet. “I felt like a sinner in Hell, with Heaven just one impossible door away”, “this is the proverbial it”, the whole bit about people being lined up to be shot in Russia and the pointlessness that paralyses them. So good. Also unnamed narrator did great talking to the IRA. Kinda proud

20 pages on and still scarred by the raw oyster excerpt. Didn’t think Brady was packing heat and not sure I wanted to know. Gaps are starting to show in the Plan- I will be disappointed if there isn’t at least one character death, unsure why. Better not be Suzy.

Absolutely ripped through this on the flight back from the holiday from hell. Still think Suzy is way too good for unnamed narrator but he treats her good, however gross his internal monologue is. Pretty sure she’s gonna screw him over with “someone” anyways. I love his relationship with Dai Substantial and I wonder if he dies in this book because that will be a very sad chapter indeed.

Plane reading. Thought narrators name was John Denver but Supaservice also called him Mr Milkshake so I dont think he’s a reliable source, still unknown. I do not like the way he talks about women and I hope Suzy actually does go to India and bins him off. Loser.

Nameless narrator complains about the strug of being lower middle class for 13 pages. Valid points though. Do like the line “Is Hell centrally heated?” and the description of the nightclub “an ocean of dried-out souls shifting with the pull of man-made moonlight”. Very nice.

P decent so far. Needed a break from the Little Friend. Want to find out more about Suzy (the only female with lines so far) besides the fact that the nameless narrator wants 2 bone her. I really hope Chicho gets his share of the restaurant and doesnt die.

Not a huge fan of the Ratliff bunch. Big House of Slytherin vibes with the snakes and the bigotry. Got a hunch that Curtis is gonna be an important character in unfurling the mystery, fingers crossed he doesn’t die

Love that Hely brought a cat shit he had been looking after for 6 weeks to his school’s science fair because he thought it was a butterfly chrysalis.
““Harriet!” he shouted without thinking, and got a mouthful of water for his carelessness; he’d forgotten that he was in over his head” is my fave line of this read- i love a double meaning i do (to be read in a farmers accent)
