That dann lawn chair... the goofy dancing... the fucking pee & tampon scene? im not into this at all 😭 i think had i been in a different mind set this story wouldve really pulled me in but rn im way too on the outside and getting second hand embarrassement from EVERYRHING thats happening

Idk if i like this more than the first one or if its just because i'm not reading a genuine literary sapphic yearning masterpiece like sunburn at the same time to burn up all of my emotions and fucks given.

Justice for Rita!!

I got this book for christmas and started reading it right away, on the train on my way home. I can already tell this book will probably drive me to tears. Its just written so poetically and the emotions flow so wonderfully from one situation to the next. The Queen of the Corner is such an intrigueing character in this setting and its making me nervous about what her fate in this is going to be because i love her.

Torrey Peters talks about gender so poetically and its still very accessible? I dont know, its just very imaginative and gives me heaps of feelings

Torrey Peters way with words has me so bamboozled. They use a lot of occupation and region specific slang and expressions, - this takes your mind into the events being described - and yet still every sentence is filled to the brim with meaning and context, so it doesn't feel like it impacts my understanding of the story at all.

I just finished the story "stag party" yesterday, and even though the two stories before it made me feel a lot as well, somehow the character, "Babe", moved me to tears several times while reading. His/Her relationship with gender, the significance of the fabric triangle and how the main character yearns so so much for the social transformation it could bring.. the pain and struggle of not being seen the way you want
