Fr. John Clark is starting The Iliad (Oklahoma Series in Classical Culture)
I'm rereading under the Herbert Jordan translation (OU Press, 2008), which uses a principle of one line of English for each line of Greek. Each line is then fairly loose, keeping an iambic pentameter where possible. The text is immediate and immersive so far. I plan to read a book a day.

As insane as this looks: rhetorical history study (days off), scripture exegetical work (good for prayer and homilies but not a daily driver), patristic theology (in chunks, had to slow down with parish life), Texas Catholic history (admittedly more interesting than the rhetorical history), a novel, and a daily devotional. "I'm well adjusted and defensible" I scream, as my reading goal slips further and further away.

School’s back in session, and this is as dry as it looks. Still good.

Fr. John Clark is starting There Is No Rose: The Mariology of the Catholic Church
"A smart book."—Fr. RRH. I'm agreed—Nichols is clear, comprehensive, and offers key insight (without overstepping) in cases of controversy. I highly recommend it.
