The rage that I'm feeling when reading this...

I had completely forgotten just how intricate and layered the Victorian descriptions can be. Collins' attention to detail paints vivid scenes and emotions, but at times, the density of it all feels like wading through a fog. Although the descriptions can get tiresome, the cliffhangers are nothing short of genius.

"So if a woman is good-looking, that's enough for you?" she asked
"That's enough for any man," he said.

Oh, to be a woman...

Jon, it has always been. I think that after reading this book, all the ways will lead back to Foucault's History of Madness.

A great surprise - I didn't expect this book to be a masterpiece when I randomly bought it from a library just for the sake of buying something.

Mi se pare imposibil de înțeles această carte în profunzimea ei dacă nu cunoști atât o parte esențială din istoria literaturii ruse, cât și detalii despre mediile sociale rusești din secolele 18-19. Este necesar unui cititor care vrea să înțeleagă Demonii in totalitate să îi fi citit înainte macar pe decembriști, Lermontov, Gogol și Cernișevski.

Brilliant. I didn't expect anything less from him; he's one of contemporary fantasy's pioneers in the US.

Of course Bathsheba fell in love with the worst man from all of those who loved her. Didn't expect nothing less from her (she's very selfish, impulsive and immature + ungrateful). She still doesn't deserve Gabriel and I really hope they'll not end up together (even though Gabriel seems in love enough to forgive her for every stupid thing she does). I already know that Troy will totally wreck her.

So you're telling me that from all of the men that loved her, Bathsheba fell in love with the worst one. Of course, couldn't expect nothing less (she still doesn't deserve Gabriel and I really hope they're not going to end together)

Bathsheba is becoming interesting. As I progress through the novel, I don't see her as repulsive as in the beginning.

I find Bathsheba so annoying. First, I don't like proud characters, and she is overflowing with pride. Secondly, the difference between her and how kind and humble Gabriel is, makes her even worse. She's not worthy of Gabriel. I don't care how rich she is. She just sucks.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I really find Bathsheba very annoying. Firstly because I don't like proud characters, and secondly because she has those "omg I'm so independent" airs and, tbh, her character is in such contrast with Gabriel's that it makes her even worse. I really don't like her.

Until now, Clarissa is so brave, courageous, and powerful! To refuse the will of your parents like that just because you don't want to marry a monster is proof of absolute power in those times. She is, for now, one of my favorite female protagonists. So based, so determined, and so smart - Clary Harlowe💕

A very good book. Maybe not 5/5, but 4/5 for sure.

I know that this novel will hurt me so bad, but still I read it. Why am I doing this to myself?

The greatest ruler of Europe. Been waiting to read this book for so long!
