I wish I’d read the reviews first. The characters are so excessively emotional that their irrational outbursts overshadow the story. Instead of building empathy, it just made me frustrated by how unrealistic and overdramatized their reactions were

4 chapters in and I’m already disappointed. I’m hoping the quality of the storyline improves and will help me forget about the cliche character development. It is very evident Kristin Hannah has not educated herself about basic psychology and developmental disabilities. The entire premise of this book is harshly irresponsible and offensive.

So far I’m hooked. The book bounces from the perspective of the serial killer to the perspective of the medical examiner And I LIKE that.

I’m really trying to get into this book, I loved her book the nightingale. This is a book I’d probably have to read in one long sitting to get past the character and plot build up.
